EmberLine™ is Timberline Studio's Shou Sugi Ban collection — eight fire-crafted finishes that celebrate the elemental relationship between wood and flame. Each finish transforms timber into a surface of depth, texture, and quiet drama.
Inspired by the Japanese art of Shou Sugi Ban, EmberLine™ brings that tradition into modern Texas architecture — factory-applied in our controlled San Marcos studio for consistency and performance across every board.
Available on Cedar, Accoya®, and Thermory® USA. Interior and exterior applications. Every finish available in smooth and wire brush surface profiles.

Wire Brush Finish
From kazan — Japanese for "volcano"
Deep smoky gray with soft golden undertones — the natural patina of cooled volcanic ash. Powerful yet composed. Kazan Ash brings warmth within a contemporary neutral palette that reads differently in morning light than it does at dusk.
Inspired by the Hinoki cypress — revered for purity and timeless elegance
Soft warm copper-brown with subtle golden undertones. Grounded yet luminous — the kind of tone that ages gracefully and deepens with time. Hinoki Ember adds natural richness and character to both interiors and exteriors.

From haku — Japanese for "white," symbolizing clarity and simplicity
Pale whitewashed tone with delicate silver highlights that enhance wood's natural grain. Its soft luminance evokes freshly fallen snow and coastal driftwood — transforming spaces into bright, airy sanctuaries.
From tsuki — Japanese for "moon," symbolizing balance and reflection
Rich moss-gray with soft brown undertones — grounded and luminous. The smooth, smoky surface enhances wood's natural depth while maintaining a tranquil, modern aesthetic that shifts between warmth and cool depending on the light.

From kaen — Japanese for "flame"
Golden-amber with subtle char undertones — the warmth and radiance of controlled flame. A dynamic surface that shifts gently with the light, glowing in sunlight and deepening in shadow. Artisanal depth and timeless craftsmanship in every board.
From arashi — Japanese for "storm" — the calm that follows
Soft weathered gray with subtle taupe undertones — driftwood shaped by coastal winds. A quiet elegance that reflects light gently, balancing warmth and neutrality. Serene, composed, and effortlessly refined.

From yami — Japanese for "darkness"
Deep-charred black with refined matte texture — subtle grain visible beneath the surface. Bold, architectural, and timeless. Yami Noir grounds a design with quiet confidence and sculptural precision. The darkest statement in the collection.
From sora — Japanese for "sky" — the gentle glow of a sunset reflected in warm wood
Golden-brown hues with smooth grain movement — brightness and comfort in architectural form. Sora Grain balances the organic character of natural wood with a refined, modern palette that works across design styles. Warm, optimistic, and full of natural light.
Detail Shot
The inherent beauty of EmberLine™ comes from working with natural wood and fire — two forces that interact differently with every board. The Shou Sugi Ban process embraces the natural variation in tone, grain, and texture that makes each board a one-of-a-kind result. While our process is identical across every board and quality control is performed on every single piece that leaves our studio, the nature of fire and wood means that no two boards will be exactly the same. This variation is not a defect — it is the defining character of a fire-crafted material. We recommend a field mockup prior to full installation so all parties can evaluate and approve the natural variation in actual project conditions.
